Foster Care & McKinney-Vento | Dual Identification

At the 2023 Foster Care Summit, TEA's HMAR teams facilitated a specialized training focused on the dual identification of students who are both in foster care and experiencing homelessness. This session provided educators and stakeholders with critical guidance on navigating the complexities of supporting dually identified students, including legal requirements, best practices for cross-system collaboration, and strategies to ensure educational stability. The training emphasized the importance of accurate identification, coordinated care, and leveraging available resources to improve outcomes for this vulnerable student population.
